Sarah Goes To Matt's at the Market.

I make it a rule not to go out on Valentine's.  Yes, I am one of those.  Instead, I met my Valentine for lunch the day before.  I frequent the market often in the off season, but never stay long enough to enjoy a nice meal.  Matt's at the Market is a Seattle staple and our lunch date was a nice excuse to check it out.   Once you're inside before even taking a glance at the menu you can see why.  The room is big and open with the seating lining the windowed walls.  Your view is of the market and the Sound beyond it. The affect on any sunny afternoon with a glass of Provencal rose in hand would make you forget (temporarily) it's ever dull and dreary here.

For lunch the sandwich offerings hit the spot.  The cod sandwich, my choice, was sauteed golden brown and served on toasted brioche with tartar sauce.  My afternoon was complete with with a salad and glass of salmon pink rose.   My companion went for the pork belly bahn mi,  a revved up styling on an ID favorite.  Nothing we had was outrageous, but all was good and well done.  Considering the location expect nothing less than optimally fresh and seasonal ingredients. The efficient lunch time service had us in and out in under an hour.
